Fall Foliage in Vermont

On Sunday Rich and Nancy took us on a ride to see the beautiful fall colors.  We drove to the summit of  Mount Equinox, 3848 feet.  The Mount Equinox Skyline Drive is the longest privately owned paved toll road in the USA.  Some beautiful views from the summit.  On the drive back to Castleton we passed through Bromley, Vermont's sun mountain and ski resort and Ludlow...(Ray's middle name)..maybe some ancestors here?  We stopped for dinner at Curtis' All American BBQ Restaurant, delicious ribs.  Another great day.

Castleton, Vermont

We have been in Castleton since the 24th Sep.  We are having a such a good time with Rich and Nancy.  They are great tour guides.  Rich and I have enjoyed seeing each other after 50 years and remembering some good times we had growing up.  We are staying at a nice RV Park on Lake Bomoseen.  We are about 10 min drive from their house and Castleton.  I think it is about 8 miles.  On Saturday we went to the town of Poultney for their Annual Chili Cookoff and Farmer's Market & Craft Fair on Main Street.  They said there were 25 contestants vying for the title of "Best Chili Chef."  You paid $6.00, got a cup and spoon, then you went to each table and got a scoop of chili to taste.  After you tasted all the different chilies you were to go vote for your best.  Problem was by the time you tasted each one you forgot which one you liked the best.  So if you are like Ray you had to go back and taste the ones you "think" you liked the best again.  Later in the afternoon we stopped by Castleton College to watch the girls Soccer Team.  The boys were just finishing up when we arrived so didn't get to watch them....all we saw was they won.  The girls team is good.....enjoyed watching them play.  They also won.

Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Cooperstown, New York

We arrived at the Cooperstown KOA RV Park late yesterday afternoon.  Just relaxed last night.  This morning we drove into Cooperstown to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.  It is a large museum..3 floors of Baseball memorabilia.  Ray took some photos.  It was difficult to take pictures because most everything was behind glass, so lot of glare.  We really enjoyed our visit to Cooperstown.  Tomorrow we leave for a short drive to Vermont.  My cousin Rich and his wife Nancy will meet us at the Vermont Welcome Center.  It will be fun seeing Rich and meeting Nancy.  We haven't seen each other in about 50 years...so have a lot of catching up to do.

Wright Patterson and The National Museum of the Air Force

Sunday morning we left Indianapolis for Dayton, Ohio.  It was only about a 2 hour drive, an easy travel day.  We had reservations at the FamCamp on Wright Patterson Air Force Base.  We got checked in and trailer set up.  They have a very nice FamCamp.  This was our first time at Wright Patterson AFB. We are off to get some groceries and fuel and plan to spend tomorrow at the Air Force Museum.
Ray went to the Air Force Museum this morning and I stayed at FamCamp and got my laundry done.  I had hoped to get it done last night, but everybody else in the park was doing laundry.  Ray came back at lunchtime and I went back with him for the afternoon.
The National Museum of the United States Air Force is the largest and oldest military aviation museum in the world. There is 10 acres of indoor exhibits, featuring over 400 aircraft and missiles and thousands of artifacts including personal memorabilia, uniforms, and photographs.  The museum is divided into galleries; Early years -1901-1917; World War I -1917-1918; Inter-War - 1919-1941; World War II; Koren War; Vietnam War; Cold War; Post Cold War; Missile and Space Gallery; Presidential Aircraft; and Research and Development Aircraft.  The Presidential and Research & Development Galleries are in a different location and we didn't make it there before it closed at 5:00 pm.  So we will have to come back so we can see the rest of the museum.  Ray took so many photos.  I'll just share a few of them.
